Once AnglerHive officially launches, you will be able to download the app from the Google Play Store (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS). We will send an email to everyone on our early access list with direct download links as soon as the app goes live.

For now, you can join our waiting list to be the first to know when the app is available.

After downloading the app and signing up with your email or social account, you will be guided through a quick profile setup:

• Add your name and a profile photo
• Select your favourite fishing spots or regions
• Choose your target species (bass, carp, yellowfish, etc.)
• Set your fishing preferences (shore, boat, fly, etc.)

The more you tell us, the better we can personalise your forecasts and community recommendations.

Yes — AnglerHive will be free to download and use for all core features, including:

• Basic fishing forecasts and bite predictions
• Community access and catch sharing
• Spot discovery and local angler connections

We may introduce optional premium features or subscriptions in the future for advanced tools, but the core experience will always remain free.

You can update your email or reset your password from the Settings menu in the app:

• Go to Profile > Settings > Account
• Tap "Change Email" or "Reset Password"
• Follow the verification steps sent to your inbox

If you are locked out of your account, tap "Forgot Password" on the login screen and follow the prompts.

You can delete your account at any time:

• Go to Profile > Settings > Account > Delete Account
• Confirm your decision (this action is permanent)

When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it. Your public posts and catches may be anonymised rather than deleted to preserve community discussions.

Absolutely. Your privacy is important to us. You can control your visibility from Profile > Settings > Privacy:

• Profile visibility: Public, Friends Only, or Private
• Location sharing: Choose whether to show your exact location or just your region
• Catch sharing: Control who can see your catch photos and spot details
• Discovery: Opt in or out of being found by nearby anglers

Our forecasts combine multiple data sources to give you the best possible prediction:

• Real-time weather data (temperature, wind, pressure)
• Barometric pressure trends
• Moon phase and solunar tables
• Historical catch data from the community
• Water temperature where available

While no forecast can guarantee a catch, our bite prediction algorithm is designed specifically for South African conditions and species. The more anglers in your area use the app and log catches, the more accurate the predictions become.

The Gear Marketplace connects anglers looking to buy, sell, or trade fishing equipment:

• List an item: Take photos, set your price, and describe the condition
• Browse: Filter by category, location, price, and condition
• Connect: Message sellers directly through the app
• Trade safely: Meet in public places and verify items before exchanging money

All marketplace users are verified AnglerHive members. We encourage ratings and reviews to build trust in the community.

AnglerHive tournaments let you compete with anglers locally and nationally:

• Join a tournament: Browse open competitions and register with one tap
• Log your catch: Take a photo with the in-app verification tool (includes timestamp and GPS)
• Track the leaderboard: See live rankings and how you stack up
• Earn badges: Unlock achievements for species, sizes, and consistency

Some tournaments are free community events; others may have entry fees and prizes. All rules and requirements are clearly listed before you join.

Sharing your catch is simple and rewarding:

• Tap the + button on your home feed
• Take or upload a photo of your catch
• Add details: species, weight/length, bait used, and location
• Choose your privacy setting (public, friends, or private log)
• Post it to the community or save to your personal catch book

Every catch you log contributes to the community's collective knowledge and helps improve local bite predictions.

We take community safety seriously. If you encounter inappropriate behaviour:

• Tap the three dots on the user's profile or post
• Select "Report" and choose the reason (harassment, spam, fake profile, etc.)
• Or select "Block" to prevent them from contacting or seeing you

Our moderation team reviews all reports within 24 hours. Serious violations may result in immediate account suspension.

AnglerHive is fully compliant with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Here's how we protect you:

• Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
• Minimal collection: We only collect what we need to provide our services
• No selling: We never sell your personal information to third parties
• Your control: You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time
• Secure hosting: Our infrastructure uses industry-standard cloud security

Meeting fellow anglers can be a great experience, but your safety comes first. We recommend:

• Meet in public, well-known fishing spots for the first time
• Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return
• Check the other angler's profile, ratings, and community history
• Trust your instincts — if something feels off, don't go
• Consider bringing a friend along for the first meetup

AnglerHive provides the platform to connect, but you are responsible for your own safety when meeting people offline.
